Bottle gourd soup/ Lauki or Dudhi soup/ Dudhi ni tarkari
Indian food is often considered to be all about curries, spice rubs and lovely homemade breads. Sure, we love them, that's why they are famous right. But apart from the mainstream Indian food that you get served in the restaurants, many vegetables like bottle gourd are hardly ever promoted on the menu even though dudhi or lauki (as called in Hindi) is widely used in Indian cuisine.

Gobi Kasuri Methi - Cauliflower Curry With Dry Fenugreek Leaves
There have been a lot of celebrations going on lately on the blog, first with the pineapple halwa for Diwali and then mutton korma for Eid and while I celebrate my birthday today, there was no room for more sweets or meat. All I wanted to settle with was simple homemade food.

Mix Dal Tadka - Indian Lentils Soup
I was having a hard time naming this recipe of dal which is a generic name for Indian lentils in Hindi. What you think dal actually is ? A soup? A stoup? A stew ? Its certainly not a curry that is what I'm certain of. I actually kind of get irritated when every Indian dish is named as curry. So I decided to stick with soup!

Baghare Bhaigan
I hated egglplants/brinjal/Aubergine. You know why ? because I never tasted it. As bad as I was, obstitate to not even taste it in all these years. And then it slowly vanished from our meals as mom soughted out we never going to eat it. But as I started my adventorous jounrney into cooking, I realised just how many things I had never tasted. It all seemed different now.
