In my last post on Udaipur, many of you noticed the lack of food photos. So I dug into my hard disk to find some and in the process found more photos I thought were worth sharing.
That's one of my favorite food stall from my hometown Galiakot. Boiled black chickpeas and potatoes are cooked in a tangy tamarind based gravy, ended with addition of suspicious looking red chilly water. Best thing in the world!
With a country of largest tea drinkers in the world, its not suprising if you see tea stalls at almost every nook and corner. There is nothing a hot cuppa of tea can't get you through in India - traffic, noise pollution, congestion is not a problem!
Roasted unshelled peanuts, roasted shelled peanuts, fried and salted peanuts, roasted chickpeas, popcorn, India gives you every opportunity to eat while on the streets. There is just no other way.
I'll leave you with other photos to enjoy, hope you like them!
Wow guess you had a lovely time, wonderful captures!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos...I love walking about old parts of India and just clicking away. It's hard to make people feel like they can just go back to being in 'natural mode' and do whatever the heck they were doing before I shoved a lens in their face...India is a photograph just waiting to be taken.

ReplyDeleteOne if the best things about India is that it is so multicolored- literally. Love the bright hues in your photos. Now all that is missing from your Udaipur photo album is pictures of your family :)

ReplyDeleteNice photos! I am planning a trip to Udaipur soon. Please recommend places to eat at.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone!
ReplyDelete@Swagataraha I must admit, I didn't eat out in restaurants much since I was busy savoring mom's homemade food and eating off the streets :-) But couple of things
1. A place called 'aapni dhani' on the outskirts of Udaipur serves fabulous traditional Rajasthani food with loads of fresh ghee and butter. Also, you shall be able to experience Rajasthani culture, dance and such activities. We loved the place.
2. I don't know where you are from but if you get chance don't miss out on eating Vadilal Paan ice cream, I'm addicted to that stuff
My navigation skills are really bad so even the place I know of I'm not sure how you can get there. If you want specifics please shoot me a mail and I will try to help you better.
Thanks for sharing more photos from your amazing trip home. I have never heard of black chickpeas & now I am intrigued to find them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, I am in love with the last pic:)
